What covenant species could actually blow a candle out? Grunts and their methane, hunters don't have "lungs".

I know this is kind of late (Well, a lot late) But all of the Spartans I, II, and III, never had Metal implants, aside from the Neural interface in the back of their skull (Which all UNSC had). However, they did have Carbon Nano-tube inlays in their bones (Which is actually a slowly developing science) which improved Bone density, and strength, not to mention the injections which improved not only muscles, but also the tendons and ligaments, which would hold their bone structure together under the pressure of the suit.

Thank for giving me expectation for all these comics and I really like it.

In one of the books, it said that the covenant have translators that allow them to curse at the inhabitants of the planet they were attacking. The same technology should allow them to converse with a human.

I always assumed that the humans had some kind of universal translator similar to those seen in Star Trek or perhaps some kind of nanite solution similar to Farscape's translator microbes. And that no Sangheili ever actually spoke English (or "human" as it were) and that the "Worts" "Snorts" and "Raawrs" from the first game were more akin to what they actually speak like. In Halo1 it sounded like a few words would get through whatever translation equipment the Chief had but mostly just Wort.

Maybe they just, you know, stuck their heads underwater. They would have needed to live near fairly deep water for that to work well, though. And since the bestiary I got with Halo 3 didn't say a word about Sanghelios, it's really hard to tell. Though, the small fraction of their planet that was shown depicted a rather large oceans. So there's always possibilities that the Elites clustered around large inland lakes.

The Arbiter could blow out the candle, in theory - he'd just have to put the flame near his throat (which means between the mandibles) and exhale really, really hard. Depending on his lung capacity and diaphragm (or whatever Sangheili move their lungs with) strength, he could do it. As Zzombie noted, his lack of lips means he'd have no way to focus the air, and his wide throat means his breath would be rather diffuse. Even if he could blow hard enough, however, it would still mean sticking a lighted candle in his mouth, and the Unggoy have a trademark on that kind of stupidity.

All this brings up another interesting question: How do Sangheili talk? The vowels would be easy enough, but how do they pronounce consonants?

The Sangheili definitely swallow their prey whole. Aside from the fact that they have no masticating (chewing) ability, their inward-pointed teeth are a big hint. You can see similar inward-facing teeth on predatory species on Earth - not necessarily animals, either. Look at a pitcher plant, and you'll see inward-facing bristles, which will let prey in but not out. Any struggling will only propel the prey further in. The Sangheili's evolutionary ancestors likely ate using the same mechanism, using the mandibles to allow for different sizes of prey, and to nudge it towards the throat if it wasn't being cooperative. Their bite is actually incapable of cutting, only holding (and dealing some nasty puncture wounds.)

As for liquids, the fact that there is neither a lower jaw or similar appendage to gather them nor a rough tongue (like a cat's) nor a proboscis means that drinking would be rather difficult... perhaps whatever Sangheili eat has a high water content? If anyone else has an idea about how Sangheili could consume the necessary fluids (in the days before they invented tools, of course), please post it. Ditto for ideas as to how they taste (I'm thinking something on the roof of the mouth, or the inside of the mandibles.)

Also, Zzombie: As far as I know, Sangheili don't have tongues (you can get a good view of the Arbiter's mouth in the Halo 2 cutscene where he's branded), so he couldn't "lick".

He has metal enhancements along with the serums... Otherwise the MJOLNIR armor would cause his arms to rip out of their sockets from the sheer power. Learn to read -_-

The master chief is a SUPER SOLDIER. He looks like a cyborg. He just got a few shots and some type of formula, and he became a super soldier. I read a lot of Halo books (all of them!Literally) so he just says hes a cyborg cuz hes a super human

HEY! Master Chief isn't a CYBORG! His a human with an super soldier high tech armor on his body, an elite soldier and the armor enchance his senses and strenght agility and speed. But he isn't a cyborg. A cyborg is an half machine and half human you know? Meat combined with flesh inside body and sometimes outside. An Android is mean to be completly robot that only looks like human but can be Cyborg too like in Dragon Ball!

Arby could just eat the candle! Or Cortana could turn on the fan with her electronic powers! Or Cheif (this will never happen) could just take his FRIGGEN helmet off!

OMG. Those were great. Are you going to make any more of them soon? I'd love to know how to draw like that! Its so neat! I am, however, confused about how Arbiter cant blow out the candles... I mean, he has to breath right? So he should be able to blow out them candles. And Chief should be able to if he tried. He has that little button that opens the hole in his helmet so he can drink stuff. All he'd have to do is open it. But still *chuckles* it WAS freaking funny. No matter what. I love your comics. Zzombie is back!! awesome comic, cant wait for the others! i think RVB should come out with another series called "Red VS Blue: Uprising" its where the two teams, and chruch who has magicly re-appeared, tucker, and the others, are doing what the do(fighting, complaining, ect)and the Elites come and are attacking each red and blue base and the only bases left are the ones sarge, grif, and a new character(Epsolan) have to defend it so humanity can get back on its feet/ destroy/ally with the opposing force. its still in the works(AKA, my head) so besides all that, yayness, Zzombie is back!!
