I thought the Grav Hammer was a nice addition to the Halo formula. The plasma sword too. But since you play a super soldier encased in several hundred pounds of metal, you may need more than another piece of steel if a Human melee weapon is ever introduced.

i have no idea why you people think that the humans already have a melee weapon. a melee only weapon is a weapon that has the exact same reaction from when you press a trigger button as when you press the melee button. the shotgun is not melee, it is a gun.

we hhave the shot teres no instant kill weapons besides energy sword(not spartin laser in cluded because of charging time)gravity hammer and shotgun. it takes the same amount of time to cock it as to retrack a sword or hammer. they should add brutes to matchmaking

In the Halo games before halo one came out. (I'm talking like 1996 For the Mac.) there was a Machete that was supposed to be included in MC's arsonal to be an equal to the Elite's energy sword, but, when the final release version of Halo came out (halo 1: combat evolved) they got rid of it.

IMO, we get the Shotgun which, if used right, surpasses both the Grav hammer and the Sword. Think about it, how many times have you been rushed by either and then BAM you blow their face off?

all those points are well and good but,i think a simple machete,just a reinforced one so it wouldn't snap, would work perfectly fine.if you read the book "The Flood",near the end, cheif gets attacked by a combat form that bashes his head with a wrench,which comepletely drains his shield.A WRENCH.if a blunt metal objest can do that,imagine a big, heavy,sharp object.and there are weak points in the mjolnir armour.has anyone noticed the large, unarmored spots?they're just patches of 25th century kevlar, while very strong,the spartans and elites are stronger.so in summary, amachete would work fine,all the other things mentioned are all good improvements,and this comic rocks.any questions?

fragmentation grenades are so very effective

Frag grenades are a totally different situation. They have an indindiary core so there is an explosion for started. And also the fact that frags send tiny little pieces of shrapnel in every direction which would easily penetrate the gel layer and beyond. A big hunk of sharp metal and a thousand tiny projectiles propelled by explosive force are nothing alike, even with the greatest stretch of the imagination.

Spartan Spear

A good idea might be a sort of EMP combat knife. All Spartans are equipped with knowledge to use one according to the books, so if you equip a shield discharger like the ones in the beginning of the first two Halo's, it might be like the bayonet with a giant battery. This could make it large enough to look like it's two handed, and would be called the "Spartan Spear". Now that would be awesome!

we all know how the brute pistol has blades on it and it works right....well....y not just make a blade version of the spartan laser....
or better yet....y not just make an energy blade about 1-1.7 meters long stick out from the top of chief's wrist....kinda like what Ed from FMA does with hi auto-mail arm.....

I gotta disagree on that point. Come on. If I can damage a Spartan by hitting him with my MA5, you're saying I couldn't do anything with a heavy, sharp piece of metal?

Plus, grunts don;t wear enough body armor to make this useless. You know you want to shank some grunts with a machete.

Great comic. Honestly I was thinking about skulls as melee weapons and how they dont break after hitting a shield and some really tough Spartan armor. I'm pretty sure the skull would just break if the hand holding it crushes it before it evens touches armor.

On a related note, the sword could use re-purposed Covenant tech to give the blade a sort of plasma sheath.
